Community Forums and Lectures

From time to time community forums or lectures are offered that relate to aspects of Plan Santa Barbara. These events may be presented or co-sponsored by the City or presented by organizations in the community.  Forums that have been held to date include:

Creating a Healthy Community

On Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, The Coalition for Community Wellness presented public health advocate Richard Joseph Jackson, MD, MPH, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Environmental Health and several local experts on nutrition, parks and recreation, air pollution and transportation. Dr. Jackson is a nationally recognized expert in the study of how we build our cities and neighborhoods and its relationship to epidemics of obesity, diabetes and lung disease.  The City of Santa Barbara co-sponsored this event as part of the Plan Santa Barbara process, which is examining how the city will grow and develop over the next 20 years.
